No parade shouldn’t mean no fun! A socially distant bike ride loop starting at Park Square, and going through the Westside and Morningside neighborhoods.
Riders will pause at the Common to listen to a public reading of Frederick Douglass’ stirring 1852 speech “The Meaning of July Fourth to the Negro.”
Bring a bicycle, cold drink, and energy for a 3.5 mile ride through city streets. Rain will result in a reschedule for Sunday at noon.
ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT: The Ride is open to all forms of non-motorized transport; scooters, recumbent and hand cycles, tandems, and trailers. Face coverings are highly encouraged. Road surfaces may be patchy at some points due to paving work. We’ll be moving at a leisurely pace, around jogging speed. There will be limited shade during the ride itself. Slopes may be steeper than standard ADA-recommended limits for short stretches.
