MAKER DAY: Woodworking Shaker Carrier
to
Hancock Shaker Village 1843 West Housatonic St, Hancock, Massachusetts 01201
Make a pine Shaker-style carrier, useful for organizing household items like utensils, tools, or the mail. Made since the 1840s, the carrier has a center handle and dovetailed corners. A master carpenter/cabinetmaker, instructor Peter Forward has a long-standing interest in Shaker design, teaching hand-working methods with tools passed down from his great-great grandfather, a joiner in the 1870s.
Because making dovetails is an essential part of this project, prior experience cutting dovetails with hand tools is required. All materials are provided. Class size is limited.
FEE $100/$90 members; plus a $40 materials fee
