Goat Yoga
to
Hancock Shaker Village 1843 West Housatonic St, Hancock, Massachusetts 01201
We’re not kidding. Goat yoga is coming to Hancock Shaker Village! Saturday May 27 and Sunday May 28 at 10AM are SOLD OUT so we’ve added a 1PM class on Saturday May 27. You can be part of a class that practices yoga outdoors on the farm (all levels welcome) with our playful four-legged friends. Goats are intrigued by hair (hint: you may want to pull yours back if it’s long). It’s kind of fun and a perfect chance for you and the goats to commune, stretch and relax, and unwind on the farm.
It’s also an opportunity to do good: Goat Yoga at Hancock Shaker Village is part of Save Our Silos, a fundraiser to raise $90,000 by the end of May to save the Village’s historic silos. Built in 1908, these ‘silent sentinels’ were severely damaged by a winter storm. Inspection revealed that these wooden vintage beauties won’t make it through another winter. Moreover, when part of the silo blew off, it damaged the roof of the Dairy Ell where the goats and other animals live. Hancock Shaker Village has raised $82,000, and has $8,000 to go. Proceeds from the classes support saving the silos.
The class fee includes free admission to Hancock Shaker Village, a 20-building historic Shaker village set on 750 acres.
