Explore a variety of printmaking using tools you can find at home! We will experiment with bubbles, monoprinting with markers, create thumbprint creatures, and use other found objects like blocks to build printed castles.
JULY 7 — BUBBLE PRINTMAKING
Use a cup of water, soap, and food coloring to blow bubbles that can be stamped onto paper!
Materials: Soap, Water, Food coloring, Straws, Paper, Cup
JULY 14 — MONOPRINTING
Learn how to transfer color onto paper by using markers on foil or any plastic bag.
Materials: Foil/plastic bag/ziplock bag, Markers, Sharpies, Paper, Spray bottle of water
JULY 21 — THUMBPRINT CREATURES
We will use our fingers as a way to make print on paper. Once dry, use a marker/sharpie to turn your prints into emoji like creatures.
Materials: Stamping ink or paint, Sharpie, Paper
JULY 28 — BLOCK CASTLE PRINTING
We’ll can find some blocks and learn how to stamp and print to build our own castles on paper.
Materials: Legos/blocks/found objects, Stamping ink or paint, Paper, Crayons
AUGUST 4 — GARDEN PRINTMAKING
Using forks, paper rolls, and other found objects, we’ll create prints to grow our own flower-filled garden!
Materials: Forks/toilet paper rolls, Paint, Paper
You will join a live, interactive lesson presented in real-time by an IS183 Faculty Artist. Small class sizes will allow you to engage personally with the instructor and other students, just like in the studio! Faculty lessons will primarily be demonstration-based, but may have segments in which students are challenged to work on independent assignments. Each class and faculty approach will be unique!
