Join at Dewey Hall for an outdoor concert featuring Moonshine Holler!
Paula Bradley will be teaming up with fiddler extraordinaire Darren Wallace for some old time, cajun and country music.
About The Band:
MOONSHINE HOLLER combines the adroit talents and musical experience of devoted roots musicians Paula Bradley (vocals, guitar, banjo and banjo ukulele) and Darren Wallace (fiddle, guitar.) Both have toured and played with a who’s who of traditional music powerhouses, and together they blend their love of classic country, cajun, western swing and old-time music into a lively duet that delights audiences with their smorgasbord of tunes and songs, from Hank Williams’ chestnuts to bouncy Texas fiddle tunes to cajun classics to banjo breakdowns: Sometimes rowdy, sometimes reverent, always a ruckus!
A West Virginia-born multi-instrumentalist residing in the Berkshires, Paula has been involved in old-time and roots music for many years. Known for her strong, spirited vocals, she has toured (on banjo) with old-time darlings "Uncle Earl"; with old-time powerhouse Bruce Molsky (on guitar and banjo uke); and recorded and toured with Tony Trischka and Bruce as part of the acoustic roots trio Jawbone. She was also a founding member of the popular New England honky tonk combo (on piano) Girl Howdy, and with her late husband, Bill Dillof, Moonshine Holler. Currently, she also leads her own popular juke joint swing combo Miss Paula & The Twangbusters.
A native of Lafayette, Louisiana now living in Connecticut, Darren started playing fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and bass fiddle at the age of 15; soon he began to seek out older area musicians, leading him to master fiddlers, Lionel LeLeux and Varise Conner, as well as many other great Cajun musicians. Along the way, he also absorbed western swing, country, and bluegrass and melded these influences into his own unique playing style. Over the years, Darren has shared the stage with many of the legends of cajun and zydeco music, including Dewey Balfa, Canray Fontenot, Bois Sec Ardoin Eddy Lejune, Rockin Dopsey, and Merlin Fontenot. Darren toured extensively with the Cajun ensemble Filé and currently performs with festival favorites Jesse Lege and Bayou Brew.
