10x10 Real Art Party
to
Berkshire Museum 39 South St, Pittsfield, Massachusetts 01201
Berkshire Art Association is at it again! Artists from the Berkshires and beyond are contributing 10x10 inch original works of art to be given away for just $25 each during the 10x10 RAP (Real Art Party) at the Berkshire Museum on Thursday, February 21, 2019.
A $25 ARTtix guarantees the buyer to a work of art to take home the night of the party. ARTtix may be purchased at the Berkshire Museum admissions desk or by phone, through the night of the 10x10 RAP (or until tickets sell out).
The doors open at 6pm and the drawing begins at 7pm sharp! Tickets will be chosen in a random order and the bearer will be able to choose any work of art that is still on the wall. Admission for the evening is free.
The art show and party will benefit Berkshire County through BAA Fellowships for college art students, art field trip awards to Berkshire high school art departments, and free admission for art students to the Berkshire Museum.
The 10x10 RAP is a collaboration of the Berkshire Art Association, Storefront Artist Project and Berkshire Museum. The 10x10 RAP is being presented as part of the Pittsfield’s 10x10 Upstreet Arts Festival coordinated by the City of Pittsfield's Department of Cultural Development and sponsored by Berkshire Gas.
Accessibility Statement:
Mobility/Physical:
The main entrance of the Berkshire Museum is wheelchair accessible, with a gently sloping entryway and automatic doors. They interior doors are not automatic, but museum staff are positioned at the front desk to assist with doors. There is an elevator that leads directly into the Crane Room. The Berkshire Museum has large hallways and open spaces for mobility devices to maneuver.
Service animals are permitted (but if they need a drink, please ask museum staff or a BAA Board Member, we would not recommend they drink from the fountain.)
Bathrooms are on the two floors before the Crane Room. They are wheelchair accessible, clearly marked, and can be reached by stair or elevator.
There will be some movable seats available for anyone who needs to sit. More can be brought into the room if necessary.
Auditory/Visual:
The Crane Room fills with sound, and it becomes difficult to hear announcements, so the Museum will be providing amplification to speakers during the event.
Art is hung on the walls at approximately 4' - 5' off the floor, with some three-dimensional items on tables approximately 3' high.
Lots are called, and guests choose their art when their number is drawn. A projector screen will display the numbers of the lots drawn, and a poster board will be used to mark off art that has been taken.
The Berkshire Art Association will have literature to accompany both the art on the wall and the organization's mission statement, though speeches may not be close-captioned on the projector screen.
Fragrance:
This is not a fragrance-free event. As that it is an evening event, some patrons will choose to wear scents.

The Crane Room has a high ceiling with recessed incandescent lights and ambient light from the large skylight. There are no strobes, flashers or smoke machines at this event.
The Crane Room can become very loud with ambient noise, enough that it can be difficult to focus on conversations or presentations.
Emotional:
The 10x10 Real Art Party is an open call art event, and some of the themes presented in the art may be triggering or discomforting to viewers.
There should be no loud noises (beyond crowd noise).
Alcohol will be served at this event.
There will not be police or visible security forces at the event, though security can be called in the event of an emergency.
The event is open to move in and out of, through multiple points of egress. Should patrons become overwhelmed, there are quiet gallery spaces with soft lighting immediately outside the Crane Room.

Light hors d'oeuvres will be served, some gluten free (non-grain) items will be available.
Beer, wine, and water will be for sale. Water fountains are located on the two floors below the Crane Room.
