"Personal and friendly" is how most people describe the atmosphere at Great Barrington Airport. "It's like returning to the earlier days of aviation--it's like coming home." Is it no wonder? When you first arrive, you will more than likely be greeted by the owners--people who have dedicated their lives to safe general aviation, and the premise that flying and flight training are meant to be enjoyable.
In the early 1920s a farmer's potato field was converted into a commercial aerodrome to service the booming city of Great Barrington, MA. This humble aerodrome eventually grew into the modern facility that is today the Great Barrington Airport, with a 2585-foot paved runway and two instrument approaches.
Berkshire Aviation Enterprises has operated the airport since 1944, providing maintenance, flight instruction and scenic flights. It is home to both private and business-owned general aviation aircraft.
Great Barrington Airport is a destination airport for visitors who come to enjoy the many year-round recreational activities, cultural events, fine dining and boutique shopping that the city of Great Barrington and the Berkshires have to offer.
