Work with photographer Thad Kubis to build and use your own pinhole camera using household items like boxes, shoeboxes, food containers, oatmeal canisters, etc. and then process your images from home.
In this four-meeting workshop, we will learn the inner workings of pinhole cameras to construct our own, explore exposure, make a jacket into a darkroom, create images, and process either paper or film using coffee, wine, Vitamin C and other easy-to-get products and examine the results.
Materials:
Something to make the camera with (this can include anything from food boxes, oatmeal canisters, paper towel tube, Altoid tins, etc.)
duct tape
razor (x-acto/box cutter)
clean soda can
ruler
pencil
scissors
smartphone or tablet
pad to take notes
photographic paper/film and the “processing” agents needed will be discussed during first class and are not necessary for purchase in advance
