Honoring the Centennial of World War I
to
Norman Rockwell Museum 9 MA-183, Stockbridge, Massachusetts 01262
World War I remains America’s forgotten war, even though it profoundly shaped the rest of “the American century.” This special day will explore the causes, courses and consequences of the war, and honor the heroism and sacrifice of those who served. U.S. Naval War College Curator Rob Doane will explore the war’s historical underpinnings and Norman Rockwell Museum Curator of Education Tom Daly will discuss Rockwell’s World War I experiences and art. A special reading of R.B. Reese’s new play, Either Side of Zero, will recount the personal story of poet Joyce Kilmer, who died during the conflict. Free for Museum members, or included with Museum admission.
