Deep Blue Sea, which will have its world premiere at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City, was developed during iconic choreographer Bill T. Jones’ visit to Until, Nick Cave’s momentous exhibition at MASS MoCA in 2017. This work-in-progress performance follows an artist residency that will transform MASS MoCA’s largest venue; the Hunter Center will be stretched to the very limits of its physical capacity. The work, a meditation on the nature of finding community in this confusing era of ours, will eventually incorporate a cast of 100.
Seating is general admission. Preferred ticket buyers get the best seat in the house, as well as free museum admission on the day of or day after the show.
This program is supported in part by the Irene Hunter Fund for Dance at MASS MoCA, in association with Jacob's Pillow Dance, and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
