Hi all. My name is Brooke, a.k.a The Babbling Brooke. I’m a transplant from Los Angeles and I relocated to the Berkshires this time last year, in an effort to escape the chaos of LA, to be closer to nature, and to take a risk; to move somewhere I was only vaguely familiar with and jump in. What did I have to lose, right?
Since being here, I have gone through some trying times. I’ve taken strides to become the strongest version of myself and I don’t think I could’ve done it without the environment that I’m in. The Berkshires is truly a magical place; from the glorious nature that blooms and blossoms all around me, to the delicious restaurants that are owned by people in the community, to the events that have enabled me to find immersive and exciting adventures to go on, to the group of young entrepreneurs eager to bring new life to the county - I have found an incredible place that I am so blessed to now call home!

Partnering with berkshires.com is something I am so excited to share with all of you. I’m grateful to be the go-to person for not only healthy experiences for you personally, but healthy ways for you to explore in the Berkshires. The word “healthy” can sometimes only be related to food, but I like to take a different, all-encompassing approach to the word. When I say ‘healthy’ I’m not only referring to food, but also your environment, what you put into your body, ways to improve your lifestyle, and how this county can contribute to improving all of those things.
I see the Berkshires with fresh eyes because I’m not originally from here - which means I have zero bias. I see the Berkshires as a whole, and I recognize everything the Berkshires has to offer exactly for what it is - I appreciate the up and coming entrepreneurial network in Pittsfield, I window shop at the chic shops in Great Barrington, I feel all warm and fuzzy in the quaint, vintage town of Lee, and my creative brain tingles among the artistic elements of North Adams. That is just scratching the surface of the experiences I have and continue to have in the Berkshires.
I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with you all here, and on my own blog, and introducing you to the place that I am happy to call home!
Let’s kick it off with what I consider my top 3 places to hike…because if it’s one things that the Berkshires is known for is our great hiking... and hiking has been one of the main reasons why I’m thriving here. Since I take on a holistic approach to my health, nature and physical fitness has been a major component in my healing and it’s something I advocate to my clients and to my friends. I also LOVE to hike barefoot. It really helps you to feel grounded and it totally improves your mental health. More on that next time.
Below I've listed my three absolute favorite hikes in the North, Central & South counties of the Berkshires.
So there you have it! I’m in the Berkshires, I’m hiking up a storm, and I’m bringing my holistic vibes to everyone who’s wiling to listen; especially those who want to hire me to cook them good food, or those who follow me on Youtube!
See you soon,
Xo

Aspinawall Loop Trail at Kennedy Park - Central Berkshires
91 Pittsfield Road , Lenox, Massachusetts 01240If you park at the Arcadian shop, you can run inside and grab a map of all of the available trails. I like this hike because you can choose a pretty simple one, or you can do a full loop, and at one point on the trail you end up at the summit! There’s a small structure there that you can sit under and meditate on the hike! I’ve been here in every season, and I love it just as much each time.

Cascade Waterfall - North County
180 Marion Ave, City of North Adams, Massachusetts 01247The Cascade Waterfall in North Adams is my absolute favorite hike in the Berkshires. You can’t park right at the beginning of the trail, you have to park at the YMCA right down the street. The walk from the YMCA up to the trailhead is through a neighborhood that is the antithesis of a “quaint small town” suburb. The houses are pristine, the inhabitants bring their kids and their neighbors to the brook and enjoy the sunshine in the heat of the summer. I have been in the fall, and in the summer - and it’s beautiful year round. The waterfall at the end of the hike makes it worth it - but the hike in general is leisurely.

Monument Mountain - South County
600 Stockbridge Rd., Great Barrington, MassachusettsThis is a great sunrise hike. If you’re looking to see the sunrise, to have some quiet time before the day gets going - this is the perfect place to go. The views are spectacular and the hike up can be a bit challenging depending on the route you take. (This is a plus for me!) I’d say medium difficulty. There are 3 trails to get to the peak, and in the parking lot you’ll see the sign that gives you all of the details.
