Bernay Fine Art, 296 Main Street, Great Barrington, MABernay Fine Art is thrilled to announce the opening of its latest exhibition, “Art on Paper,” showcasing a diverse collection of contemporary artworks by five artists: Reed Anderson, Mike Glier, Simona Prives, Karin Schaefer and Conny Goelz Schmitt.
A reception for the artists will be held on June 8 from 4-6 PM.
Reed Anderson is renowned for his use of hand cut paper stencils which are repeatedly folded and finished with enamel. The works are rooted in historic botanical textile patterns, graphic design principles, and color abstraction.
Mike Glier draws inspiration from his surroundings. His new work reflects the natural beauty and serene landscapes of the islands of Hawaii, captured through Glier’s keen eye and deft hand. His ability to convey the essence of his sensorial experiences provides a deeply personal and immersive viewing experience.
Connie Goelz Schmitt’s wall sculptures are a testament to the timeless charm of vintage books. By repurposing these literary artifacts, Schmitt creates captivating three-dimensional works which blend history with contemporary artistic vision. Her meticulous craftsmanship and imaginative approach result in sculptures that evoke nostalgia while inviting fresh interpretations.
Simona Prives’ one-of-a-kind prints are a celebration of texture and mixed media. Enhanced with collage, cloth, and paint, her pieces blur the boundaries between different artistic mediums. Each print is a unique narrative, rich with layers and depth, reflecting Prives’ talent for merging traditional printmaking techniques with modern materials and methods.
Karin Schaefer’s intricate drawings are inspired by the invisible yet omnipresent waves of energy. Her works weave these intangible forces into tangible designs, creating intricate patterns that are both aesthetically pleasing and intellectually stimulating.
“We are excited to present ‘Art on Paper,’ an exhibition that showcases the incredible versatility of artists working on paper” said Lou Friedman, Director of Bernay Fine Art. “Each artist brings a unique perspective and technique to the medium, resulting in a diverse and compelling collection that we are excited to share with our visitors”.
The show runs through July 7th.
