Celebrate the opening of the exhibition "possible selves: queer foto vernaculars," the first major exhibition about the global impact of queer identities on the evolution of portrait photography. Enjoy drinks, bites, a polaroid selfie photo-op, and a series of hip-hop and vogue performances by Quess Green (Williams '20) featuring music by Drebae, Leikeli 47, Mykki Blanco, Laverne Cox, and Teyana Taylor.
Reading and remarks at 6 PM
"possible selves" brings together works from WCMA's collection including photographs by Nan Goldin, Andy Warhol, Lorna Simpson, and Joel-Peter Witkin, and over two hundred images culled from Instagram (with the consent of the photographers) which experiment with and reframe conventions of queer portraiture.
